I’m really going back into the archives here to conjure up some memories from Sara and Graham’s Acton, MA wedding. Note to self, blog posts work way better when they’re fresh on your mind. I’m sure a quick glance at these photos will jog the old memory. Ahhh yes, here goes. Acton, MA you’re probably saying “why do I know that town” sadly the town’s recent notoriety is for all the wrong reasons. Acton is where Hernandezing was born, look it up. Anyhow, Sara and Graham got married on June 6th on Sara’s family property. The reception was tented just off the front of the house. Being a rustic farm house setting, the bride and groom chose to share their first dance to Old Crowe Medicine Show’s “Wagon Wheel.” Just the tip put together a hybrid Old Crowe / Darius Rucker version of the tune which was well received. This was an afternoon affair and pretty laid back.
The family dogs even got into the action and had no reservations about joining us onstage. Luckily the pooches were dressed for the occasion and fit right in with the band. The band was running a little loose for this gig and took some unaccustomed requests. Eric and Evo pieced together a nice rendition of “Fly Me to the Moon” which got some guests on the floor during cocktail hour. There were a couple of aspiring ballroom dancers in attendance. The cha cha was requested and admittedly no one but Evo knew what the hell that entailed. We let the aspiring plank spankers take a look at the set list and they chose a Darkness tune which is probably our hardest hitting song in the catalogue. The dancing duo counted off a tempo and the band went to work on the tune. Sadly no video was captured but I assure you the fleet footed performance was well received. This was truly a first. Not to be outdone, another collective of aspiring young dancers wanted to follow suit. Now things get really strange. Hard hitting rockers Just the Tip are preparing to play the most sung and recorded song in Mexican history. To our complete amazement, Evo actually knows the tune and launches into an incredible cover of the Mexican standard. His Bulgarians accent was no hindrance while crooning a perfect Spanish vocal. We were able to capture a video of that. https://thetip.band/2014/07/05/in-a-final-act-of-strangeness-ivo-performs-besame-mucho/ Being an afternoon wedding, this afforded the band some hair down time. The bride and groom asked us to pop over to the after party for a cocktail or two, which we gladly accepted. They showed us around the grounds and we got acquainted with the horses. We had a quick drink, said hellos and adjourned to our hotel where we enjoyed the most incredible holiday inn. Ever. Jukebox pool table bar food, it was basically as if we were staying at an Applebee’s which if you know this band is perfect. We had a few drinks and few laughs and got in bed early. Great ending to a great wedding,
